National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS)

Under the scheme we perform technical assessment of the Service Providers who elect to be assessed for accreditation for contestable works associated with the installation of electrical connections, see Frequently Asked Questions under related documents (FAQ's).

The scopes of registration are as follows:

  • design
  • project management
  • cable laying (LV,11kV,33kV,132kV)
  • cable jointing (dead LV, live LV,11kV, 33kV, 132kV)
  • overhead lines wooden pole and/or steel tower (up to 132kV)
  • substation installation (up to 11kV/415V)
  • substation installation (132/32kV,66/11kV, 33/11kV)
  • all associated civil engineering works including excavation, cable laying and backfilling.

Note: each voltage rating detailed in brackets represents a separate registration category

Accreditation under the scheme will provide the service provider with the following benefits:

  • accreditation recognised by all UK DNOs
  • independent assessment and registration process
  • assignment of an accreditation mark which will represent the achievement of a high technical, quality and safety standard
  • Lloyd's Register website listing of registered service providers

Water Industry Registration Scheme (WIRS)

We operate, on behalf of the Water UK and the water utilities, the new Water Industry Registration Scheme.

The scheme represents part of an ongoing process to facilitate multi-lay for service providers.

Under the scheme we perform technical assessment of the service providers who elect to be assessed for accreditation for contestable works associated with the installation of water infrastructure.

The scopes of registration are as follows:

  • design
  • project management
  • construction, commissioning and connections Full, Site & Services

Benefits

Accreditation under the scheme will provide the service provider with the following benefits:

  • accreditation recognised by all water utilities and Water UK
  • independent assessment and registration process
  • assignment of an accreditation mark which will represent the achievement of a high technical, quality and safety standard
  • Lloyd's Register website listing of registered service providers

Gas Industry Registration Scheme (GIRS)

Lloyd's Register operate, on behalf of the UK Gas Transporters, the new Gas Industry Registration Scheme.

Under the scheme, Lloyd's Register perform technical assessments of Utility Infrastructure Providers (UIPs), who elect to be assessed for accreditation, for work associated with the construction of new gas infrastructure operating up to 7 barg pressure, in the following scopes:

  • design
  • Construction/Commissioning/Connections (Routine) [CCCR]
  • Project Management
  • Audit
  • Connections (Non Routine, Basic) [CNRB]

Accreditation under the scheme will provide the UIP with the following benefits:

  • standardised set of requirements
  • single point of contact
  • accreditation recognised by all UK Gas Transporters
  • the Accreditation Mark, assigned to registered UIPs, will represent the achievement of a high technical, quality and safety standard
